We have exclusive access to distilleries that don't regularly offer tours, not to mention we will have some of the places to ourselves! You'll visit Lonely Oak farm and distillery to see the process from beginning to end! It's a family owned operation and the only distillery in Iowa that makes its whisky from produce sourced on their farm. We'll stop for a quick bite to eat where you can explore a few options on your way northeast! Then you'll make your way to the Templeton Rye distillery where we will get a special tour of their facility. Know for it's prohibition history and whisky making, you'll get mob history of the area as well as their process for making Rye! Next up is Iowa Legendary Rye where we will get an exclusive tasting and have a chance to purchase a bottle made exclusively for our Excite guests! Finally finish your day with a private tour of Foundry Distillery where we will enjoy a welcome cocktail, behind the scenes tour and then a tasting of their four different whiskies. To end the evening, enjoy a catered meal in their private mezzanine seating with delicious food from "the Hall"! One of the best parts... We did not know exactly to expect on our very first tour trip. We had no issues with going with the flow, due to unforeseen circumstances that started on day one. It would have been a good idea to let us change our shoes at the airport, knowing there was so much walking that evening. Feelings from several tourists, that we were not prepared when the plans had to change on the fly that evening. We are quite active people, and we were under the impression that there would not be so much walking, the 2-star rating should probably be 3 1/2-4. People have been inquiring on what did we see? What didn't we see? Paige kept us on task during this action-packed tour, she was great! We enjoyed all the sights and history of the region. It was more than we expected and a good time! Can't think of anything we missed or could of wanted to see, may be more time at the Smithsonian but that in itself would take weeks so that time we had was good! Page was wonderful and attentive! Cliff was a great addition, very knowledgeable and got along with everyone! Great Trip would recommend! Hotel was good! Food places were GREAT!
